Who makes this
WordSearchCraft is a small independent site, and it makes one thing. Everything here follows from a single observation: almost nobody wants a puzzle generator. They want a sheet they can hand to a room of children without thinking about it, and the difference between those two things is most of the work.
That work is mostly invisible, so here are three examples of it. Words under three letters are excluded from every bank, because in a grid of random letters a two-letter sequence occurs by accident all over the page, so a child finds it everywhere and none of the finds count for anything. Every combination of grid size and puzzles per page is measured against a real US Letter page before it ships, because a sheet that runs a word list into the footer fails silently: nothing warns you, it simply prints wrong. And the kindergarten and first grade sheets can be printed in lowercase, because a word wall in those rooms is lowercase, and THE and the are different shapes to a child who is still learning to read one of them.

How the puzzles are made
Every puzzle is generated by a deterministic algorithm from a curated word bank. Each topic has a bank of around fifty words, and each sheet draws a subset, so two printouts of the same topic are different puzzles rather than the same grid twice. That matters for classroom use: a set of four-per-page sheets can give every student a different layout with the same word list.
Word banks are written by hand, not scraped. Words are chosen to fit the topic and the age the topic is aimed at, and words under three letters are deliberately excluded. In a grid of random letters a two-letter sequence occurs constantly by chance, so it can be “found” anywhere and the exercise stops meaning anything.
What it costs
Nothing, and there is no account to make. Every PDF downloads without a signup, an email address, or a watermark. You may print the sheets, photocopy them for a class, and use them at home, in a classroom, in a library or at a party.
The one thing you may not do is repackage the puzzles and sell them as your own product. That is spelled out in the terms of use.

Some worksheet topics reference Common Core standards. Those references are there to help teachers find the right sheet quickly, nothing more. WordSearchCraft has no affiliation with, and no endorsement from, the organizations that publish those standards. The public documents are simply used as a reference.
